Warehouse Mixing Center

Deliveries

Deliveries are made from one of two sources: Direct or Mixing Centers.

Direct:

Direct from the point of manufacture. This allows you, the customer, the lowest possible cost of product and added savings by buying in larger quantities.

Mixing Center:

We have mixing centers nationwide that allow for weekly or monthly deliveries as needed. Mixing centers are convenient because you can mix frozen with dry products on a single truck. You can also limit your inventory by having us store the products for you! Mixing centers also allow our customers to order a mix of Line Items and Ongoing Wise Buys, and Wise Buy Specials to maximize savings, add variety to your menu and improve your feeding!

Receiving Your Delivery

Tools For Schools is proud to stand behind all of our products. Your cooperation is appreciated in documenting any irregularities or discrepancies on our deliveries. Without your documentation, we have no recourse with our manufacturers or carriers.

What is “Receiving”?

Receiving is the point at which foodservice operations inspect the products and take legal ownership and physical possession of the items ordered. The receiving process is to ensure that the food and supplies delivered match established quality and quantity specifications.

What steps should I take to Inspect and Receive my deliveries before I sign the bill of lading?

  • Record the date and time of your delivery when the driver calls to make an appointment
  • Anticipate the delivery and have your purchase order and specifications ready
  • Check adequacy of storage space.
  • Upon delivery, open the cases…
    • Check temperatures of frozen items upon arrival; should be 0` to -20` F.
    • Check frozen items for acceptability. Is there any evidence of thawing or freezer burn?
    • Reference code numbers and quantities against your purchase order.
    • Record discrepancies and comments on the bill of lading the driver hands you.
    • Sign and date the bill of lading

What do I do if there is a problem with my delivery?

  • Call your Tools For Schools sales representative before the truck leaves your dock.
  • Record in detail discrepancies and product condition on the bill of lading before you sign it. Your signature is legal acceptance of the product and its condition upon delivery.
  • If you are unable to verify your delivery, record on the bill of lading, “Signed under protest. Driver did not allow for inspection of delivery.”
  • Put items you can’t use or won’t pay for back on the truck and record refusal on bill of lading.
  • Any adjustments made to the bill of lading after the driver has left your dock are invalid.
